Recently I presented to a number of seniors as part of a panel. We covered many topics from home care to types of senior housing to moving. One particular senior talked to me afterward and we agreed to meet with her and her son in a couple weeks to discuss looking at options for down the road.
After touring several options, “down the road” became soon. What the client realized was how lonely she was becoming in her condo where there were no organized activities. She loved the idea of having people to eat with and different activities. She also knew that it wouldn’t be too much longer that driving might not be possible and the transportation provided to doctors, shopping and even church was a definite benefit.
Many of my clients end up in a crisis and then need to make a quick choice. This senior, in being proactive, could take her time in choosing a community she was comfortable with and that met her current and future needs.
