Importance of Family Memories Elderly Parents Senior Citizens Twin Cities MNWhen we get together with family, whether it is our kids, siblings or cousins, it is always a time of retelling family stories. Everyone laughs and cries as they enjoy hearing the memories again.

This gift of family memories is a great and easy idea for Christmas gifts. It can be a chance for you to share some of your memories and family stories and give them in either written or recorded form to your relatives. Hand written stories are a great way to share them. If you have someone in your family who likes doing genealogy, then providing full names and dates that you remember is very helpful though not required. Recording yourself reading your story and giving the recording can also be a great gift.

If you are not sure of what to write about here are some starter ideas. One great idea is to recall stories about a family get together at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Maybe your family had a cabin or resort they always went to in the summer. Family vacations are another time when family stories come about. Or maybe it is a story from your childhood and how you grew up.

Whatever the story, you can be sure that your family will love receiving your recollections (even if it differs from their own memory).
