As you may know, Governor Dayton vetoed legislation that helped prevent maltreatment, improve reporting and investigations for elders and vulnerable adults along with a lot of other things. The bill comprised of a lot of issues, not just things around elder care.
Next year a task force will work to develop an assisted living report card with recommendations for quality metrics to be completed by January 2019. There will be a lot of other work that will take place too regarding eldercare. And from what I hear, more of the right people will be involved in the discussion to make sure the solutions are best for everyone.
Keep in mind that many faces will be changing in our government; our governor, two senators as well as house of representatives. If you have opportunity to voice any concerns or suggestions about what needs to be improved regarding care for our elderly don’t hesitate to speak up.
